At the edge of a crystal clear lake, a little boy with long, straight blonde hair sat, his feet dipping into the cool water. Garnett-Paul Spears swirled his toes in lazy circles, watching the ripples expand. A butterfly landed on his arm, tickling his skin & he laughed - a bright, carefree sound that echoed across the peaceful land. His gap-toothed grin spread across his face as he looked up, eyes twinkling with pure joy.
Behind Garnett, two of his angel friends appeared, walking hand in hand. Caylee Marie Anthony, her curly hair bouncing with each step, skipped over to him with a soft giggle. "Look, Garnett! I found flowers!" She held up a handful of bright yellow daisies, her face lighting up with pride.
Garnett smiled, his blue eyes sparkling. "They’re pretty, Caylee!"
Macy Grace Ditty, with her chubby cheeks & soft waves of brown hair, beamed at him & carefully placed the flowers she’d picked & made into a crown on his head. "For you, Garnett!" she said, her voice full of innocent excitement.
Garnett scrunched his nose. "I look silly, don’t I?"
Macy, standing on her tippy toes, beamed with joy as she carefully placed the flowers on his head. "Nah," she said with a mischievous grin. "You look great... Garnett the Great!"
Garnett’s gap-toothed smile widened as he stood tall, his blonde hair gleaming in the sunlight. "Then you shall address me as Garnett the Great!"
Caylee giggled, spinning around as she tried to balance one of the flowers in her hair. "We’re all great!" she declared proudly, her voice a soft, sweet melody.
Macy clapped her hands, spinning in circles beside them, her laugh filling the air as she wobbled on her feet. She had always been full of love, a smile that could light up the whole world. She loved to dance & sing, but most of all, she loved the joy that her laughter brought to those around her.
Garnett grabbed her hand & the three of them ran through the meadow, their feet leaving tiny imprints in the soft grass. As they ran, something glimmered in the distance, catching their attention.
"Do you see that?" Garnett asked, his eyes wide with wonder.
"It's shiny!" Macy exclaimed, tugging on his sleeve. "Let’s see what it is!"
They ran towards the glimmering objects, their laughter ringing through the fields. As they got closer, they saw dozens of golden eggs scattered across the soft grass, each one shimmering in the sunlight like little treasures.
"It's an Easter egg hunt!" Caylee shouted, her face lighting up with excitement.
"Yay!" Garnett cheered, already scooping up one of the golden eggs. "Let’s see how many we can find!"
Caylee giggled, picking up an egg of her own. "Look, I got one!" she said proudly, holding it up like a trophy.
But as they searched further, something else caught their attention - a soft glimmer beneath the trees. Hidden amongst the wildflowers were three golden baskets, shining as brightly as the eggs themselves. Each basket was small but delicate, crafted from fine golden threads that shimmered in the light.
"These must be for us!" Garnett said excitedly as he carefully picked up one of the baskets.
Macy reached for another, her little hands grasping the handle with joy. "We can put all our eggs in them!"
Caylee, smiling brightly, picked up the last basket, her tiny fingers curling around the handle. "Let’s fill them up!" she said, her voice full of delight.
The three of them continued the hunt, their laughter echoing across the meadow as they found more golden eggs hidden beneath bushes & behind trees. They filled their baskets one by one, the eggs clinking softly against the delicate golden threads. With each find, they grew more excited, sharing the joy of discovery.
No more needles. No more hospitals. No more fear. Just freedom.
Garnett, with his gregarious & curious nature, loved meeting new people, learning their names, & asking them so many questions about their lives. Caylee, with her love of dress-ups & learning, adored pretending to be different characters. She especially loved Dora the Explorer because it was educational, always eager to explore new things & discover the world around her. Macy, ever the loving soul, found joy in many things - watching Frozen on repeat, spending time with her loved ones & FaceTiming family, her eyes lighting up when she saw familiar faces. She also loved it when her loved ones called her "Mixie Trixie Fairy Pixie," her face lighting up with a big smile each time.
They had all been strong - stronger than any child should have had to be - always pushing through, always fighting. But now, there was no more fighting. Only peace. Their hearts were light, their spirits free, as they ran together.
Caylee & Macy followed closely behind Garnett, both laughing, their voices bubbling with joy. Caylee’s curls bounced as she skipped in rhythm, her feet tapping against the ground with a childlike innocence. Though she was just shy of turning three, her bright smile & bubbly personality made her seem much older.
Macy, not quite yet three, stumbled but kept going, her little legs working hard to keep up with her friends. Her giggles filled the air like music, a sound that never failed to make others smile. Together, they shared a moment of pure happiness, their innocence & laughter echoing through the fields.
All the baskets were full & the girls sat down, tottering with excitement. Garnett flopped down beside them, staring up at the sky, his mind wandering as he lay back on the soft grass. The sun cast a warm glow over the three of them & for a moment, everything felt perfect. "Do you hear them too, when they think about us?" he asked softly, his voice carrying a sense of longing.
Caylee turned her head toward him, her wide brown eyes thoughtful. "I think I do," she said quietly. "I think they can hear us too, even when we're not there."
Macy nodded with a bright, innocent smile. "Yeah... & I think they wish things had been different. That we were still there."
A gentle breeze swept over them, carrying whispers of love from the earth below. Garnett closed his eyes, feeling the warmth surround him, like a hug that reached across time.
"They’ll see us again," Caylee murmured, her voice soft & comforting. "One day."
Until then, they had each other. No more pain. No more fear. Just love, laughter, golden eggs & endless sunny days in a place where they felt safe.
